Larry Waites, Chief Prosecutor for the Blount County District Attorney's Office.

Larry received his undergraduate degree in banking and finance from the University of Alabama in 1963.  He was employed as a banker for a number of years while attending law school.  In 1968, he earned the Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from Birmingham School of Law and was admitted to the Alabama Bar that same year.

As a former prosecutor and defense lawyer, Larry specialized and served as lead counsel in many high-profile murder, violent crimes, "white collar" crimes and major drug cases.

Larry and wife Donna (a registered nurse), have resided in the Hayden/Smokerise area for more than 25 years and have 3 children.

Susan Hallman, Administrative Assistant for the Blount County District Attorney's Office.

Susan attended Wallace State Community College in 2004 where she received an Associates Degree in applied science for Paralegal studies.  While a student at Wallace she was also employed by the 32nd Judicial Circuit, the Office of the Cullman County District Attorney.  In addition to her studies at Wallace, she was also honored to hold and receive numerous positions and awards: 2003 President, Lex Adjutor Majus (Paralegal Club); 2002-2004 served as chairperson for PHETA KAPPA (Honor Society); 2002-2004 The National Deans List of America's Outstanding College Students; 2002-2004 Member of Who's Who Among Students in America's Junior Colleges.  In June, 2005 Susan joined our office as Administrative Assistant to Mr. Tommy Rountree.

Tommy Rountree, District Attorney for Blount County

In November of 2004, Tommy became the first elected District Attorney for the 41st Judicial Circuit of Alabama.  Prior to that time, he practiced law in Blount County since 1966.  In 1998, he became an Assistant District Attorney for Lee County, Alabama.  In 1999 while his wife Martha was a graduate student at the University of Louisiana in Monroe, Louisiana, he served as an Assistant District Attorney for Ouachita Parish, Louisiana.

Tommy completed his undergraduate education at Samford University and received his law degree from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.

Tommy Rountree is committed to protecting Blount County's most precious resources - families and children and aggressively prosecuting the guilty as well as protecting the rights of the innocent.

Teresa Evans, Secretary/Receptionist for the Blount County District Attorney's Office.

Teresa has a background in various areas including insurance, higher education and the legal field.  She received a paralegal certificate in 2005.  She is the mother of three great kids. Teresa joined our office in the summer of 2008.

Jan Denson, Officer - Restitution Recovery for the Blount County District Attorney's Office. 

Jan brings to our office many years of experience in various capacities.  She has worked as an executive administrative assistant for a large accounting firm, executive director for the Trussville Chamber of Commerce as well as varied sales positions. She joined our office in the fall of 2007.
Thomas Bonds, Assistant District Attorney for the Blount County District Attorney's Office.

Thomas graduated from Jacksonville State University where he earned a double major in Finance and Accounting.  He began his career as a Federal Examiner in 1989 and continued in that capacity until 1998.  As an examiner he worked in Knoxville, Atlanta and New York before returning home to Alabama.  In 1988 Thomas left the federal government to become the Executive Vice President of Corporate America Credit Union.  He was promoted to his current position of President and CEO in 2001.  Thomas is a CPA and an attorney.  He serves part-time with our office.

Thomas is married to Rhonda, they have 3 children.
